COMO Uma Bhutan, comprised of two award-winning lodges, COMO Uma Punakha and COMO Uma Paro — voted best and second-best hotels in Asia, respectively, by Condé Nast Traveler — takes you to the heart of the ethereal Himalayan Kingdom. COMO Uma Paro is situated on the cusp of the Paro Valley, with sweeping views of the pristine mountains from the 38-acre estate, made up of 20 rooms and nine villas. COMO Uma Punakha is more intimate, with just eight rooms and two villas, located a five-hour drive through the Himalayas from Paro. Both lodges serve up Bhutanese and Western dishes, as well as COMO Shambhala Cuisine, at their respective Bukhari restaurants.

COMO Uma Paro has 29 rooms and private villas whilst COMO Uma Punakha has 11 rooms and private villas. With a mix of forest and valley rooms, Paro also has 2 COMO Suites, 8 one bedroom villas and one super COMO Villa, complete with a living area with panoramic views of the Paro Valley, an outdoor hot-stone bathtub, a private spa treatment area and an open-air courtyard with a fire pit. Meanwhile, Punakha has 8 valley rooms, 1 one-bedroom villa and 1 COMO villa. - Location:
Bhutan is on the southern slopes of the eastern Himalayas, landlocked between the Tibet Autonomous Region to the north and the Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh to the west and south. COMO Uma Paro is located on the forested hillside of the Paro Valley and COMO Uma Punakha is located at the far western end of the lush Punakha Valley. - Getting there:
COMO Uma Paro is a 10 minute drive from the airport. COMO Uma Punakha is a 3 hour drive from Thimpu. COMO will arrange all transfers between properties for you as part of your stay. - What to pack for dinner:
As a resort set in a tropical environment, dinner wear is resort smart casual. - Restaurants:
There are two restaurants at both lodges. Bukhari Restaurant serves Western, Bhutanese and Indian dishes alongside wholesome COMO Shambhala Cuisine whilst Uma Bar offers all-day dining and a selection of fine wines, cocktails and healthy juices. They also offer the COMO Shambhala Menu, a healthful cuisine rich in living enzymes, vitamins and minerals, and raw ingredients. It is available at Bukhari and from the in-room dining menu. - Spa:
In this all-Buddhist country, COMO Uma Paro has developed a substantial COMO Shambhala Retreat sympathetic to the culture. Yoga and meditation is an important element of the experience, as are Asian-inspired treatments incorporating Bhutanese traditions in holistic wellness. - Signature Activities:
As COMO act as the tour operators for both their properties, they can arrange a number of different activities and excursions. The six-night package to Bhutan is the ultimate in luxury adventure travel, immersing you in the country’s Buddhist culture. The exploration comprises four days of guided walks around the Paro Valley region, including visits to Taktsang ‘Tiger’s Nest’ Monastery and the ancient temple of Kyichu Lhakhang. You will also pass two days at COMO Uma Punakha in the Punakha Valley, with a chance to visit a 300-year-old Dzong. The itinerary includes time to enjoy the bustle of Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, and road journeys taking in the exceptional Himalayan vistas. Returning to your comfortable COMO base in the mountains each evening, there will be plenty of time to relax. At COMO Uma Paro, you can enjoy the swimming pool, steam room and daily yoga classes, as well as a 60-minute COMO Shambhala body treatment.

- The hotel can accommodate a maximum of 1 child up to 12 years old when sharing the adult’s room. Aged at 12 years old will be charged adult price, meals and other services are chargeable.

Child-minding and babysitting services are provided on request basis and require 2 days advance notice.
