The Reasons To Go
- The Whitby is surrounded by international designer shops, world-class department stores, restaurants, galleries, and museums, with Central Park and Broadway just a short walk away.
Bathrooms are beautifully finished in marble or granite, with the bedrooms and suites showcasing the city through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Pause from the sightseeing with a break for afternoon tea at the hotel. The Whitby Bar and the Orangery both offer tea service throughout the afternoon, with a choice of New York-inspired traditional tea (including a buffalo chicken tea sandwich and a matcha tiramisu), or a healthy tea with vegetable-quinoa sushi and chia pudding.
The Whitby is full of rich fabrics, elaborately-printed wallpapers, crockery hung like portraits, giant murals and sculptures as to be deemed a gallery in its own right. There’s a brochure behind reception with details about each artwork and its creator, should you be curious to find out more.
Digging down 60 feet into the ground has given The Whitby two expansive floors of basement space, including two 130-seat creening rooms, and a Reading Room with 2,500 books, which serves as both a quiet workspace for guests and a private dining/party room.
The 24/7 gym is equipped with state-of-the-art treadmills, spin bikes and ellipticals, and there’s a same-day laundry service for post-workout kit.
The Drawing Room is a jewel box of colour with a feature fireplace and comfortable furniture. It’s the ideal place to settle in for a relaxed drink, afternoon tea or meeting.
The entire top floor is dedicated to The Whitby Suite, a spectacular two-bedroom headline setting with spacious, furnished terraces.
