    Ranging in size from 52 to 361 sqm, the resort’s 84 delightful suites and villas are located within the main hotel building or arranged in individual clusters of four to six suites. They’re generously spaced out around the clifftop to maximise privacy and offer uninterrupted views over the mountains and down into the gorges. The suites surround guests in contemporary style, laced with an authentic flavour infused through décor that celebrates Oman’s rich history and culture. Earthy tones of wood and stone are accented with rugs and furnishings in bold yet warm hues, while the leaves of the juniper tree, hand-painted on a wall in every suite by a local artist, bring an element of nature indoors. A beautiful finishing touch to these charming oases of comfort and elegance.

    Located in the central section of the Al Hajar Mountains, 174km from Muscat International Airport, 2.5 hours drive from Muscat.
  • Getting there:
    Alila Jabal Akhdar is located a 2.5-hour drive from Muscat International Airport and less than an hour from Nizwa, accessible only via four-wheel drive.
  • What to pack:
    Swimwear, suitable hiking clothing and something smart for dinner. Casual wear is acceptable throughout the resort during the day with smart casual required for the evening, For Oman, as in all Middle eastern countries, respect for the local customs and sensibilities is recommended.

    Named after the juniper trees that grow in the highlands of Oman, Juniper Restaurant satisfies all your culinary cravings from breakfast through to dinner. As you feast your eyes on the mountain horizon, savour an international menu inspired by the golden age of Arabic cuisine, influenced by trade routes that stretched from the Middle East to the Mediterranean region. Allow the culinary team to wow you with a rich variety of flavours using fresh and seasonal local produce crafted to gastronomic perfection. For something a little lighter, make yourself comfortable in the welcome shade of the Rose Lounge, serving drinks and light bites for your refreshment. As the sun sets behind the mountains, relax in the softly lit, cosy ambience that sets the mood for chilling out.
  • Spa:
    Featuring seven treatment and changing rooms, including a steam room and Jacuzzis, Spa Alila is a peaceful sanctuary dedicated to pampering you from head to toe to restore a sense of total well-being. Besides a wide array of Asian-inspired treatments, the spa experience is infused with the essence of the destination. Step back in time in the steam room, the air filled with a mist of heady, earthy and cleansing oils, grounded in frankincense and juniper berry, reminiscent of ancient Oman.
  • Signature Activities:
    Stargazing: Learn about the galaxies, nebula, clusters and supernova remnants and see the treasures of the night sky. You will also be shown how to set up a telescope correctly before peaking through the lens and then photographing some of the magnificent sights. Spend time with your astral guide observing the moon, planets, stars and galaxies through a telescope. Ask questions about the big bang, cosmic dark matter and time travel. Bring along your SLR camera to learn how to capture amazing images of the beautiful Jabal Akhdar night sky.
    Cave Adventure Via Ferrata: Not for the fainthearted, this adventure dares you to step out onto 20-metre-high ropes and traverse a cave mouth – a thrilling experience you will never forget! The whole adventure happens right under the noses of resort guests where, just a few meters below the ridge, a natural cave stretches into the mountainside. Stop for a peek inside as you make your way across.
    Explore Castles and Forts: Castles and forts are among Oman’s most distinctive cultural landmarks. Visit the town of Jabreen, home to Jabreen Castle, built-in 1670 as a beautiful palace for the Imam and his family, showcasing authentic Omani craftsmanship. This trip also takes in the sights of Bahla, renowned for its ancient UNESCO-protected Bahla Fort and its handmade pottery – it is said that the potters of Bahla are born with magic in their fingers!
